Om Mani Padme Hum

Most of us know the hymn “Om Mani Padme Hum” (Sanskrit: ॐ मणि पद्मे हूँ, Tibetan: ཨོཾ་མཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ ) and also its direct translation. But what does it mean? Not all of us can answer this question. In this article, I am trying to explain the meaning of this beautiful hymn as per my own understanding. As the words in this hymn is created using Sanskrit language, I have been able to understand a fraction about its real meaning (since being in a habit of learning Sanskrit hymns). And I am sharing it to you through the help of this blog. The explanation given here is not found anywhere else. Om Mani Padme Hum "Om Mani Padme Hum" is the most significant hymn in Buddhism that is meant to make us realize our true nature, i.e. we are the eternal, pure and divine Soul being enveloped by a physical body full of desires, impurities, bondage, anger and illusions. This illiteracy and attachment is what causes the soul to bind with the body and be the subject of...

Inner Voice and Self Will

How does one hear his inner voice? How should he distinguish it from wishful thinking/thoughts that arise in him? Is there a self-will at all? What role does it play since every person's fate decides the end result? A few months back, I was asked two questions about inner voice and self will by one of the readers in my other blog. Inner Voice & Self Will Any thinking that arise out of desire rather than necessity is wishful thinking. Any thinking that arise due to attachment with five senses is wishful thinking. Any thinking that has a bright beginning and a sorrowful end is wi...

God and His Laws (In Hinduism)

I am not a poet, but sometimes words flow through my vein, If not composed in time, then I may never remember again… It’s probably a great fate to be born in a Brahmin lineage and a Hindu sect. I have got many opportunities to learn the nature of Truth on a timely basis from my parents, old grandma, my spiritual teacher, religious texts, and experience & observations. I might have been ignorant and rude at times, but I have always been guided by my elders to follow the right direction, or atleast not do anything improper or anything that hurt others. I have been taught about the actions that lead one to the state of blessedness or difficulty. I have been taught about the ways of obtaining grace and compassion from the Lord, the method of balancing the past sins, and the way of reaching Godhead again. Although I am not a strict follower, I endure and respect everything I have learnt. Today, once again after a long time, a strange feeling ...
