Beauty - Reality or an Illusion!!
Wow, what a beautiful day!! It's a nice car! Hey, how ugly dress are you wearing?? That's my hatest color. I don't like that design. I love summer. Why God even create winter? O, that bird is so beautiful. Jeez! I hate cockroaches. Oh, your necklace is so lovely! O God, what the worst choice some people make in their life!! I love blue. I hate black. Why people even choose pink? I hate tight pants. O God, I hate vegetables. He is the worst footballer in history. He is my favorite singer. Ick, is he even worthy for singing a song?? Why people even like him? I love Momo. Eww, how could people even eat that food!! Hey, hit that dog with a brick! How adorable is this kitten. O God, why did you even create ants, they are now ruining my house...................
We all have been talking like this, or commenting at people or nature at different circumstances in our life. Almost all of us are in a habit of favoring something we love, and opposing something we hate. What can we do after all! Isn't it? Nature is like that. Not all things are beautiful. Not all people are good. Not all foods are tasty. Not all colors are good. What can we do if the world is like that?.... But hey, wait a second. Is the world really like that? Is something really beautiful and something really ugly? Is it blue (for instance) that we really love and black that we really hate? Are ants and other insects really a burden to the nature (and to us)? Are bad people burden to the society? Let us think for a while.
Let's go to the market. We see all kinds of clothes and materials. We choose one. We reject another dress saying that it's not good in design, or the color is so bad. Now let me tell you something. To be really good, everyone must like it or it should be good in everyone's eye. And to be really bad, everyone must dislike it. If not, then it can be either good or bad, or both, or none. For example, the Sun can be said to be really good. Everyone likes Sun (at least by learning its importance in nature). Also, some example may exist that is really bad, i.e. which everyone dislikes. But, if atleast one person in the world exists to love something which we don't, then it means that thing is not really bad because someone likes it. Or, if atleast one person in the world exists to hate something we like, then it means that thing is not Universally Good, even though we love it. If some dress is really bad in looking, then why do you think the dressmaker created it or designed it? It is because he likes it, or somebody demanded for it. Do we ever see everyone in the market wearing the dress of our choice and the color of our choice?? Of course not. We see diversity there. It's because not all people have same taste on clothes. Even if we reject some cloth, another person will come and buy it in excitement. If something is really ugly looking, no one would have bought it. But surprisingly, every cloth, every garment, and every design will be sold one by one, day by day. What does it signify? The only thing it signifies is, good and bad lies only in our perception, and not in the object itself. The design of cloth we used to wear when we were young is no more exciting now. We rather try to give it away to helpless people. We no longer like it or feel ashamed to wear it. Isn't it the same cloth? Isn't it the same material and same design? The place we loved to visit in our childhood age has turned to be a boring place to visit. Isn't it the same place? Or, has it turned ugly? No. It is ever same. It is only our desire that changed. It is only our thought that changed. And it is only our necessity that changed. Actually, nothing is good or bad on its own.
People discriminate each other in the name of skin color. Does the color have grading? Is some color really better than another? If someone thinks "yes", then he should go in front of mirror and see himself. The only medium by which he has been able to see the color and create a distinction between them is his eye. And that eye is made up of the tissues with same color which he discriminates in the outer world, or in others. Is any color superior to others? The world becomes dull with just one color. The eye would have been frightening if it had only white and no black parts, or vice versa. The nature would have been monochromatic if everything was of same color. For instance, if you love green, then imagine a green sky, green trees, green seas, green clouds and green creatures. Do you think that would look great? Of course not. To look beautiful, all the colors must be present in certain order. So, all colors have equal value. If we love blue pant but not green, then we can't ignorantly say green is bad. Because we might love green in other things, like in nature, in hats, or in foods. We also can't say blue is better than green, or white is better than black. Because no color is good or bad on its own.
Spring is really the most fascinating season. Not too hot, nor too cold, just perfect. Flowers bloom everywhere, plants grow, birds sing, and the weather is just perfect. But why it has to end? Why should summer/winter come, isn't it? We don't want summer or winter because the weather is extreme, but it doesn't mean we have to deny or hate them. Spring is the mid-point of two extreme seasons, just like happiness is the mid-point of two sorrows. Only spring cannot happen throughout a year, or even if it does, then soon the land will turn into the block of ice in no time. Summer and winter (and other seasons) have to occur to maintain the temperature in the earth's surface and atmosphere. If only spring exists, then there will be no food to eat. Without rain (since rain doesn't shower in spring), how can we grow crops, or how will the forest subsist for long? The wind stops blowing, the clouds stop forming, the temperature goes decreasing. No more happiness will remain on earth. So, instead of rigidly denying the winter and other seasons, we must first try to realize their importance in the nature (rather than just for our own body), and be thankful for whatever principles the nature operates upon. Because all seasons are important for the nature and living beings, even if we don't realize them in our perception.
Have you seen a peacock? It's a beautiful bird. We want to keep a parrot in our home, because it makes our home fascinating. No!! Don't you like parrot? It's okay. Because not all people love same bird. Some may love pigeon, some may love small birds, some may love ostrich. But does anyone love crow? Even if we see a crow cawing in our rooftop, we try to scare it and make it fly away. Most of us don't like crow. I don't know the reason, but crows are usually disgraced in our society. Actually, no bird is all-beautiful. The feathers of peacock might be fascinating, but its legs are no better than of other birds, rather they are monochromatic, wrinkled and old-looking. Parrot might be good in looking, but they do nothing more than copying the sound of man (I only meant to list the major purpose). The sparrows might be small and lovely, but they steal the grains wherever they find it. Same is the pigeon. They excrete everywhere in the house where they are fed daily. Ostrich is big, and not everyone will like it due to its size and difficulty in petting it. So, which bird is really better than others? None. All are good in their own way. The distinction or bias lies only in our perception, not in their inherent beauty or qualities. But wait, I mentioned crow for a purpose. Even though we hate crow, they are still very important for us and the nature. Feel surprised? Hidden in their black surface, they possess very special qualities than other birds. There is a belief from the ancient time (Vedic ages) that crows are the only birds that have connection with our ancestors' spirit, and thus feeding them and treating them well keeps our ancestors happy. Crow is a mount of demiGod Shani (i.e. Saturn, as all planets are the embodiment of demiGods), and the messenger of demiGod Yama (God of Death). And Shani God is the embodiment of fate and luck whereas Yama is the embodiment of fortune and death. So, worshipping crow, which is greatly valued in Vedic culture, makes the Shani God and Yama happy, and they will shower upon us all the good fortunes and eradicate bad lucks and untimely death. There is also a provision in Vedic culture that every morning, right after the meal is cooked and just before dividing it for the family members, a small amount (sprinkled with milk, ghee, etc.) is placed on a leaf or plate and is kept at the open area of the house for the crow to come and eat. This is a sign of respect to ancestors and to the Shani and Yama God. Also, it is believed that crows cawing in the morning is the sign of good news. One who knows about it and who can understand their language can know when the fortune or misfortune arrives just by looking at the gesture the crow shows. Okay, this might be difficult to believe for today's people. But crow hasn't stopped to amaze us by its surprising qualities even for the modern-minded people who do not believe in God and spirit. Recently, a swarm of locusts had caused a disaster by eating all the growing plants causing a famine to large number of people, not only in one place or area, but throughout the world. In a group of millions, they covered thousands of square kilometers of land at a time, and destroyed plants that can provide food to thousands and thousands of people, just in a single day. Those African locusts travelled all the way through different countries of Africa, to the Pakistan, India, and Nepal. Though they travelled in millions in other countries, only a small swarm of locust entered Nepal, starting from Terai to the Hilly region. I don't know what happened to those insects in other places of the world (apart from spraying insecticides to kill them and banging utensils to repel them), but in one city of Nepal (Banepa, Kavre), they were killed by crows, and not pigeons, parrot, or humans. Felt that I am lying? Just ask anyone from that city. As soon as the locust were seen in the sky of that area, a murder of crows started flying in the sky and eating locusts one by one. Lots of locusts were killed by the crows. It is said that the sky was covered by crows and locusts that day. Since locusts never stay in same place for a long time, that scenario was seen in that city for only one day. Now, what I am trying to say is, although crows are usually treated poorly, they are no less than other birds. Crows also eat rats, snakes, snails, and the dead body of other animals, and thus keeping the environment clean and insect-free. But don't think that I am supporting crows and ignoring others. Crows also have some bad side (not actually bad from their side since all creatures, apart from human, live by their innate nature of survival, and not through intentional hate, enmity, ignorance, and greed). They leave unwanted bones and flesh in the roof-top, and also steal some kinds of human foodstuffs. Again, there is some good side of pigeon also. They are the symbol of peace. Peacock is the symbol of beauty despite its wrinkly legs. Every bird (and other creatures) have both good and bad side (from human's view). And, thus they are all equal. Just looking at one of the bad qualities of some creatures, we can't call them unworthy. We can't call cockroach unworthy just because it ruins our house. It's our own fault to create a sustaining environment for them. Remember that insects' eggs are microscopic and they are present everywhere. Now it's upon us whether we create favorable environment for them to hatch and grow in our house or not. We can't simply blame their existence in the nature. Nature is ever perfect whether we can realize it or not.
Most of us have grown up hearing the moral stories of ants and spiders. Ants are laborious in nature, and they are well managed; they walk in queue, and they collect foods and preserve some for winter season. Similarly, spiders are also the skillful creatures. They spin their web so expertly that even humans need geometric devices to draw them. Not only in skill, but they are also very helpful to humans. They eat almost all insects that harm the crops. They eat mosquitoes, cockroaches, and provide pest-free environment. They are also laborious in nature. They keep on spinning the web even if we destroy it again and again. They never give up. And thus, we can learn so many things from their lives. If we humans, who is the most intelligent of all creatures, have to learn from those innocent creatures, then how could we simply think they are useless! Okay, not everyone thinks so, but people exist. We ourselves might have thought too, at certain stages of our lives, though not at the current moment. Sometimes we need to be rude to the nature, just to protect our lives. For example, using pesticides in the crops. Yes, it is bad too - killing another's life to save ours. But we actually do that to protect the crops and to protect our family and society from lack of food, but not to wipe them from the nature (because we only kill those pests which destroy our crops). But I think, pesticides aren't really needed for healthy crops. In the village, there is no system of using pesticides and still they have no complain of pests. It might be because they use organic fertilizers and everything they use is obtained from nature, and not chemically processed. So, whatever problem we see in the city, they are born of our own carelessness. Whatever we do here is for earning more money. We try to grow foods before their actual season, we use chemical fertilizers to grow them faster, we use different chemicals to keep them fresh for longer time - whatever, we are the cause of every problems and pollution in the city. So, our own carelessness (mass carelessness) is the cause of different diseases we see today, both to the plants and to other creatures. The soil is no more fertile. Now, plants do not even grow if we don't spray chemical fertilizers. The whole environment is polluted. The rain is polluted, the water in the river is polluted, the air is polluted, then how can we expect healthy environment and healthy life? Ok, let me come to the point. What I mean to say is preventing insects from hampering us is far better than killing them after they hamper us. Keeping the house clean is far better than killing the cockroach after they start running in our room. How can a cockroach think that they are ruining our house if their intelligence is not so evolved like of humans and if they can't learn like us? Just for an instance, if a child, not big enough to understand the phenomena of nature, walking with his parents suddenly run away and be hit by a car, then we can't blame the child. It will automatically be the fault of parents. It will be the fault of their careless nursing. And so are the innocent creatures found in the dirty and damp sections of our house. It will automatically be our fault of keeping the house unclean. But instantly and hastily, we kill them thinking of nothing else. We treat them as if they are insignificant and useless, and serve no purpose to the nature. It is just our ignorance.
Let me tell you something. When I was young, I used to hate all the green vegetables. I might had thought why such vegetables even grow, or why my parents buy them - they are not even tasty. But once I grew up, I started knowing the benefits of greens. Now, I am thankful for what nature has provided us. If we think from heart (really deeply with love) the benefits of some food, we automatically like the taste of it, atleast quite more than eating them with bland feeling. I don't mean that you will like it very much, but it really works upto certain level. Don't believe? Try it once. If you don't like spinach, first see its importance and the necessary nutrients it contains, be thankful for what nature has given, be thankful for one who planted it, then eat it as a medicine to the body. You can eat it more easily, and also due to love towards it, you will like the taste (atleast quite more than before). If you begin to eat like this, slowly it becomes a habit, and it will be easier afterwards. Also, there is another thing to try with friends. Tie one of your friend's eyes with a band, and give him a plate full of steamed snails sprinkled with spices (I mentioned snails because they are disgusting as well as beneficial to the body for certain disease). But don't tell him what is really in the plate. Try to lie him saying that the plate is full of steamed goat's spleen, or something which resembles that shape and greasy in chewing (if he eats such thing). Though he may wonder about its taste, there will be no difficulty in eating for him. But try the same with another friend telling him just opposite, i.e. filling the plate with spleen or something else and telling him it's a snail. He can't eat it at any cost. Even if he eats to check, he feels disgusting, not only in feeling but also in taste. You can try with some other foods as well instead of meat (because I don't want to favor meat). So, what I mean here is, our thought system can change our taste. Taste is only a habit. There are people in the world who eat almost every insects and worms, including octopus, snake, spider, etc without the feeling of disgust and unsavory. So, nothing is Universally yummy and nothing is Universally nasty. I have seen people who love veg momos and hate cabbages. I have seen people who joyfully eat mixed curry unless they realize what ingredients it contains. And right after they knew about it, they start separating the vegetables which they don't like. Sometimes we will be eating in a happy mood, and as soon as someone make disgusting noise from his nose or mouth, or spit or talk about disgusting things, we don't like to continue eating even though the food is equally delicious as it was before. Also, the food we used to love yesterday might not be delicious today, and the food that we love today can be no more delicious tomorrow. One who has never tasted (or only tasted) alcohol and cigarette doesn't even want to smell them due to their strong and unpleasant order. But one who is in a habit can't live without them. Is it the food that is really yummy and really unpleasing?? No. It's only our perception. It's only our desire, and it's only our habit (which also changes with time even for ourselves).
Do you like bitter? Of course, you like bitter. Otherwise, you wouldn't be drinking tea and coffee. Tea leaves are bitter and coffee is bitter. Actually, we like every form of taste, atleast upto certain level. Why we don't realize is because we try to balance any unsavory taste with another contradictory (and savory) taste. Actually, the perfect taste is the combination of all the six tastes. That's why a pickle is tastier than just radish or hog-plum. Fried-rice is tastier than plain rice. We put turmeric, cumin, fenugreek and ginger in curry. Why? Just try to eat turmeric alone. You will nearly vomit. But that flavor, with combination with other flavors, results in perfect taste. So, all tastes are savory (in their own unique way). We can't ignorantly say "I hate bitter", "I hate sour", etc. However, it is normal to say "I don't like too much salty/bitter/sweet, etc because just like TOO MUCH OF SUGAR IS BAD, it is normal to not like any taste in too much extent. But actually, we like every form of taste (in their own proportion) at different stages and different moods in our life whether we realize them AT THE MOMENT or not.
[Note: While reflecting on my own life, I too have been ignorant many times on these things. So, please don't think i am criticizing others only. I am just sharing our common problems/habits.]
Hey, hit that dog with a brick, it is going to scare my puppy, it will eat my rabbit, it makes my shop dirty.... We are in habit of hearing these phrases time after time. We keep a dog in our home, treat it as if it is our child, massage it, kiss it, and walk it. And whenever we see a stray dog, we try to chase it away by throwing a stone at it, or hitting it painfully with a stick, or scaring it with some frightening gesture (which is quite better than formers). Many people don't even care to ride a vehicle through it (causing injury, and sometimes even death) if it happens to stand in their way. It's the same animal, just of different fortune. No animal is good or bad on its own. All are same if we treat and train them equally. It's us who put a bias among them by petting only that much which we can raise. No dogs seen on the streets have come from the jungle. It's us who left them or didn't raise them. It's us who separated them from their mother and left them to struggle on the streets. This was how the initial groups of street dogs started. They just have multiplied with time. It is not their fault. How can we blame some creature who can't discriminate (like us) between right and wrong, good and bad? We, being a human, the most intelligent creature on Earth, when behave like animals, then what about those innocent creatures who can't think and evolve like us!! But still, we never blame ourselves, we never see our fault, and we never pray for them. What then to say about feeding and nurturing them!!
[Note: I only tried to portray things from general perspective. There still exist many people who really care about nature and treat all with equal love, and see those distressed creatures with the heart of compassion. I didn't mean to blame those good people.]
Hey, see!! What a beautiful rose! Do you have sunflower in your home? I really need it because it is the most beautiful flower on Earth. I hate marigold, they are just everywhere. I love red flowers, or blue. Ouch, I hate cactus, why such plants even exist? No color, no beauty, only thorns.... Whatever, it doesn't matter to others what interests me. Or do you care? Nobody cares of another's interest because interest varies from person to person. We try to see things, objects, profession, and skill not with the heart of enthusiasm and understanding, but with the heart of comparison. Whenever we see some flower, we compare it with another. All flowers are beautiful in their own, but we compare and choose only those which we feel more attractive. Again, not everyone has same choice of attraction. I don't watch sports doesn't mean I have right to speak against it. Millions of people watch it. Who really cares whether I like it or not!! Again, among those who watch, not all favor same country, same team and same player. There is competition in everything. We have been learning the idea of competition from our early age. Debate competition, speech competition, inter-school football tournament, and so on. Okay, we used to get prizes for that on those days. But do we really get anything now by supporting one team and hating another? People quarrel in the name of team and players. Does any player deserve hatred? If so, he wouldn't have been selected for that team by his nation. Even though we have no relation with them, even though they get no benefit from us, and even though we get no benefit from them, we still favor our favorite player and consider other unworthy. We don't see sports for fun and entertainment. Only one thing hovers our mind - who'll win. We judge people seeing their only one characteristic. We judge people seeing their level of undertakings. We judge people seeing the work they do. People usually treat guards with least respect, and boss with highest respect. It's not that people with cheap job are less honorable than those with expensive job. Florence Nightingale wasn't a boss who used to earn by sitting on a chair, rather a simple nurse, but with great heart of compassion and helping hands. And yet, she is among the most honorable woman in the world. Pele wasn't rich to buy good balls and shoes, and yet he is among the most famous footballer in history. Siddhartha Gautam was the son of a King, and yet he became the spiritual master, equal to God, and renounced everything he had in the palace. So, economic earning and the grade of job are only the ways to make life easier; they don't actually help in person's destiny and they also don't describe the person's nature. Just like there is a proverb "never judge a book by its cover", so should we never judge anybody by their look, profession, and economic condition. Okay, let me come to the point. I was talking about flowers. All flowers are equal since they serve different purposes. Even cactus serve purpose. They are the only plant which can hold water or live without water for years. If cactus was a person, it would have been famous worldwide. But alas, it's a cactus. We usually love such flowers which we rarely see, more than which we see everyday and everywhere. Just like too much of sugar is bitter, experiencing something for a long time decreases our interest towards it, or we want to experience something new. If we listen some song for a long time, a day will come when we don't even want to play that song or hear it anywhere. If we see same movie again and again for several times, a time will come when we even don't want to think about that movie. It's the same flower, it's the same song, it's the same movie. Only the thing that changed is our desire and our perception.
Nothing in this world is entirely good, and nothing is entirely bad. A knife is neither good nor bad. It all depends upon how we use it. If anything serves atleast one useful purpose, then that is not bad at all. A caterpillar has stingy hairs which can cause painful rashes on the skin if we touch it. Simply because of this property, we cannot consider caterpillar bad. Because it serves some higher purpose on the nature. It is only a larva stage of butterfly which will one day become a fully grown butterfly or a moth. Now, do we ever consider butterfly bad? Even butterfly serves higher purpose than just increasing the attraction of nature. They are the great medium for migration of pollen grains from one place to another. Same is the silkworm, bees, and other creatures, having greater purpose than just an insect. How can we consider same creature bad at one time, and same creature important at another time? But still, we discriminate. What do you think about alcohol and weeds? Are they good or bad? They are used in medicines, and how can they be bad? Again, consuming them can increase the risk of health issues (and children are highly denied to use them), and how can they be good? So, nothing is good or bad on its own, nothing in the Universe. It all depends upon how we use it, at what amount, and for what purpose.
A person is bad doesn't mean everything about him is bad. A person is foolish doesn't mean there is nothing to learn from him. We can learn the greatest of knowledge even from the group of fools. We learn from both success and failure. From success, we learn how to achieve success, and from failure we learn what to avoid to achieve success. Didn't we learn something in both cases? Usually, we love and hate people depending upon their single characteristic. For example, if someone speak foul words, we consider him to be a bad person, and we don't try to near him or communicate with him. But it is not necessary that his all behaviors will be same. He can be helpful, courageous, friendly, intelligent, and still speak foul words due to his association with similar company. Only one who has close connection with him can see his other qualities. Also, a person might behave unusually at some moment (in his tensed mood or not being careful due to certain personal problems) and be good at other times. But those who encounter him only once and when he was behaving in that bad mood will certainly find him wrong (or mannerless). And those who encounter him only once and when he was helping others will certainly see him as good person. I myself have experienced such moments many times (you may too). Some people see me as a good person, and in the eye of some I am the most mannerless person in the world. But those who actually know me (like my close friends and family) see me as I really am. They see both good and bad in me. They love for what I am and scold for what I have done (if I pursue wrong path). If A knows B very well, then A will definitely adore for the good qualities/expertise/creativity that B possess, and scold (if A is a friend or elder of B) or punish (if A is a master of B) or feel sorry (if A is younger than B) for all his wrongdoings. If not, then Lord Krishna wouldn't have praised Karna in the battlefield during the Mahabharata war in the battle of Karna and Arjuna. Despite Karna taking the side of unrighteousness and despite him accumulating lots of sins and curses in his life, Lord Krishna was constantly praising him for his bravery, loyalty, strength, expertise, and generosity, and at the same time asking Arjuna to fight with him and kill him for all his sins, creating the ocean of wonder in Arjuna's mind (because Arjuna had only seen Karna as his enemy and as one who took the side of Adharma; but Lord Krishna, being a God, knew everything about him - all good and bad; and when Lord Krishna was praising such an evil man as Arjuna had thought, he was bewildered and resented). Similar case happened during Ramayana war when Ravana was dying and breathing his last hours due to the difficulty in bearing the pain of Lord Rama's arrows. Unlike ordinary men, Lord Rama (being an omniscient God, but appearing like an ordinary man for fulfilling his mission on earth) asked his brother Lakshmana to go to him (during Ravana's last minutes) and learn those lessons which no one except erudite Brahmin like Ravana can teach. Because Lord Rama knew that although Ravana was of demoniac nature and although he had accumulated lots of sins (of which capturing Mother Sita was the worst), he still possesses the greatest quality (knowledge) that even demiGods and liberated Rishis fail to equal him. So, in order to honor those knowledges and in order to glorify them to the world, he sent his brother to learn the final lessons from Ravana.... I will not go much on this part. The only reason I gave this historical reference is to support the fact that no ordinary person can understand another person truly. If somebody is our friend, we see him as a friend (i.e. we ignore his bad qualities to some extent), and if somebody is our enemy (doesn't have to be enemy every time, just some misbehavior will be enough), we see him as an enemy only (i.e. we don't see his good qualities even though he possesses many) and want to get rid of him. Because, a man of discrimination judges someone by encountering with only a fragment of his nature. We never try to see him the other way. We never try to understand why he partakes in some misdoings. And we never try to know how he is at other times. We are so hurried in judging him pessimistically. Sometimes we judge people even in positive way by experiencing his fragment service, without understanding his dark side. For example, if I kill (or cheat) a man at one place, and run away to another place and start helping the street person, then I will be seen both good and bad. For the family of the man whom I killed (or cheated), I will be scolded and cursed and be considered as one of the sinners. But in another place where I served, I will be blessed and will be considered as the virtuous, compassionate, and kind hearted person. Now what am I? Good or bad? Actually, I am how you encounter me. You see me only as I show you or appear before you. Only God (or someone who knows me fully) knows the contrary.
If I asked you what is the most important thing in the world, what will be your answer? Money? Friends? Family? Actually, nothing. This is not my answer. This is the reality if we speculate this earth from the eye of a third person (or with the common eye for all people, or One Consciousness). Just go to the space (in imagination), sit there and see the earth, without associating yourself with any earthly identity. What will you see as the most important thing that is desired by every human being? Nothing, nothing at all. Because you will not see any particular thing that all people are after. You will see diversity in people's needs. You will see some people begging money for living, and some spending carelessly in bar, casinos and gambling. You will see some people desiring a family (for ex: orphans), and you will see some people abandoning their family to stay in solitude (or with a partner) ignoring their family's love. You will see some people asking for health (one who is diseased), and you will see some wasting their health (drinkers and smokers). You will see some asking for life (one who is breathing his final hours), and you will see, at the same time, some people willing to suicide. You will see some people asking God to give them birth again and again (due to their birth in a rich family with all the accommodations, and thus thinking that they will get similar life if they born again), and you will see, at the same time, some people praying to God to never give them birth in this world again (due to their birth in a poor family, or due to the disease they have suffered, or due to the handicapped they have become, or due to the stress they have carried, and thus they are afraid of getting similar life). You will see some people wearing torn clothes (due to lack of money to buy new ones), and at the same time you will see some tearing clothes intentionally (for a fashion). You will see some people living in a tall building (still with the mind of insufficiency and stress), and you will see some on the streets or a hut (and still being happy most of the times). You will see some people running after money, name, and fame, and at the same time, you will see some abandoning everything to live the life of a saint. You will see some people hurting animals, and at the same time, you will see some praying for their lives. You will see some people wishing for children, and you will see some killing them (before/after their birth). You will see some people wishing for parents (ex: orphans), and you will see some leaving their parents in Old Care Centers (due to the feeling of burden). You will see some people not being able to live without flesh and drinks, and at the same time, you will see some people subsisting on simple natural foods (still being satisfied and healthy). You will see deforestation at one place, and at another, you'll see people planting trees and performing awareness campaign for their preservation. You will see people depending upon machines at one place, and at another, you'll see people working on their own effort without desiring any machines (and still being satisfied). You will see, at some place, people using mobiles, computers and internet thinking that they live in a modern world and thinking that these all are needed to be happy, whereas at another place you will see people gathering together and playing physical games, working, singing and dancing, thinking that they live in a natural world (and in both cases, you will see them equally satisfied), and so on.... Now what does that make you think? Nothing more than the cockroaches running for no reason. You see everything there, and still people being unsatisfied for what they have, and wandering around to obtain more. This is what you will see from above, and this is what Nature sees. Because from the view of One Spectator, neither "this" nor "that" is necessary, nor any thing is unnecessary too. The only thing that is really (truly) necessary for every living being are the 5 basic needs. Because every conscious being require them. No one ever says "I don't need air", or "I don't need shelter". So, these things are Universally Necessary. Every other necessities are only personal necessities which solely depend upon perspective of each individual.
[Note: Remember that I don't mean to deny the necessity of family, money, and anything. All are equally important. What I only meant to explain is, when people think 'THIS' is the most important thing in the world and regard other things as low (or inferior), then that thinking is wrong from the view of ONE Consciousness or ONE Spectator.]
I have encountered many people (especially visitors from other countries) considering the Nepali food as over spicy and over oily, and saying such lifestyle leads to poor health. And I have seen the same people being surprised to see elder Nepalese who have crossed 90+ ages and still living happily (without any disease). Hey, I am not lying. My own sisters were tourist guide for several years, and my uncle is a senior member in one of the Taiwani Institution (which is a Spiritual Institution). So, I have got many opportunities to meet and talk with people from all around the world, and have observed their reaction on Nepal and Nepalese culture. A honey is simply a honey for us, and we consume it because it is nutritious. But for people, especially from high standard society, honey is not just a honey. It is a composition of fructose, glucose, maltose and sucrose, and contains no fiber, fat or protein. And their reaction will be like "it contains sugar, I should not eat it", or "it doesn't contain fat, I think it is good for me"... "Mustard oil is not good for body because it contains high amount of saturated fat"...... and so on. But we have not forgotten we are only a generation further from those who used to consume lots of mustard oil, not only in cooking, but also directly with rice or grits, and yet they were much healthier and stronger than we ever are, and they had lived more age than we ever will. Once, a group of Taiwanese, from my Uncle's organization, visited our house to meet our family. As we welcomed them and treated them with some meals, they were whispering to each other about the food, complaining that it is too oily, salty, and spicy; why Nepalese couldn't understand what to eat and what not; and how can Nepalese be healthy by eating such foods, and so on (in their own language so that we don't understand; my uncle told me later, so I knew). And at the same time, they were nearly crazy to see our Grandma who had crossed 80 years, and still treating them with a smile. They were wondering to see people living upto that much age with no health issues. I was also wondering with them, but not to see my Grandma, but to see their level of stupidity. They were considering it's a miracle that my Grandma lived so long, and such people who live long age should be worshipped. May be for them it's a new experience, but for us it's a habit. I was thinking that they will go mad (out of craziness) if we take them to the village and introduce them with all the grandparents who are living there and standing in their own feet. I was also wondering that if their foodstuffs are better and more hygienic than ours (as they think), then why don't people live that long in their country!! Whatever, I didn't say anything contradictory that day because they were our guests. Now let me come to the point. No food that is edible causes any health problems. The only thing that is important is quality, time and amount. People with high life standards generally analyze every food they can find (in minute details) to list all the minerals they contain so that they can choose which product suits their health or which product doesn't aggravate their disease condition; but not the people living average life standard, for example, Nepalese villagers (and villagers in other countries). Nepalese villagers grow mustard in their own land, keep cows and buffaloes for milk, and plant rice, maize, barley, wheat, chilies, peas, peanuts, lemon, potatoes and every foodstuff in their own land using natural fertilizers. They do physical work all day, and eat large amount of food at mealtime. They include many immune boosting herbs like ginger, clove, nutmeg, turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, etc in their curry (which is very normal even in the city areas because of continuity of tradition from ancient times). There is a system of keeping water in Karuwa and people use to drink water normally after/along any kind of meal. And yet, they are the healthiest people in the planet generations after generations. But here in cities, even though we follow the same style, we develop different health issues. As soon as we reach the age of 40 (or even earlier), we start developing health problems like gastritis, diabetes, blood pressure, asthma, gout, increased cholesterol, and others. Once we develop certain health issue, we start becoming choosy, and start complaining about foods we eat. Saturated fat, unsaturated fat, sugar, protein, this food to eat, this to avoid...., and also suggest others (those who are healthy) what to eat and what not. I suggest you, if you have someone in village, just go there and see their lifestyle. They never choose what to eat and what not to eat. They eat everything that are available there. They don't care about oil, fats, ghee, spices, salt, fructose, sucrose, calories, and eat everything, but at the required amount (i.e. till the food fully satisfies their stomach). And yet, they don't complain or regret about anything throughout their life. Because it's not the food that needed complain, rather it's the quality of food. It's not the mustard oil that causes gastritis, rather it's the factory-produced mustard oil where unnecessary cheap ingredients are mixed to produce more oil. It's not spices that degrade the health, rather it's the low-grade chemicals. Also, no edible food in its original form causes diseases, but once we are already suffered from some other cause, then there could be a necessity to avoid certain foods even in their original form. For example, if I have suffered from gout, then protein-rich foods are bad for me. Now I can't simply tell others that mixed pulses are not good for health. They are desirable for other people as they contain high amount of protein which is really needed for the better development of brain and other organs, and thus they have to eat. I have suffered from overweight and high cholesterol doesn't mean full fat milk is bad. It is bad only for me, not for others who are healthy and have no cholesterol problems. I am suffering from cold doesn't mean drinking cold water is bad. It is bad only for me; for others it's their choice, because just by drinking it, they don't catch cold. I am suffering from diabetes doesn't mean sugar is bad. Others can eat it, as eating sugar doesn't cause any disease (considering the sugar is organic). Therefore, what actually matters is the quality of food, the amount we eat, and the physical work we do, rather than the food itself. I have a photo of my relative Grandma, who was 75+ years at that time, swinging a swing hanged in a tall tree of her village (which would have been a Godly miracle for those Taiwanese if they had seen that incident). And here, my parents are already suffered from gout and gastritis, and they feel troublesome to climb the stairs or walk uphill even for a while (though my Grandma is completely healthy as she spent 70% of her lifetime in village and rest in the city). And, here I am, with great possibility of developing gout in the later stage of my life. Although we eat the same type of food that we used to eat in the village, we still suffer (I am not referring my case only, but of everyone in the cities). It is because nothing is organic here and nothing is directly from the field. Every store-bought spice contains chemicals and artificial colors, and every oil contains unnecessary fats. Nothing is pure, and nothing is hygienic. Crops and vegetables are full of chemicals, and even water needs to be purified by adding chemicals. So, it's not actually the food that deserves blame, but the people. What then to talk about those who can't live without processed and junk foods, grilled meats, wines, eggs, and who are so choosy in what they eat (or should eat)!
I also remember an incident that when I was young, few foreigners were laughing at us to see us eating foods wrapped in newspaper, because for them eating in newspaper was a dirty thing. May be, but that was our only way at those times. Even today we will be eating Chatpate (and many other foods) in newspaper, and we don't really care. Because we live by our standards, and it is not necessary that café and restaurants are always clean. We cannot look at the street child and treat them poorly or laugh at them or tease them just because they seem dirty and poorly mannered; they are just living by their own standard (and yet, they are stronger than us). Whatever, I don't want to criticize further on this part, but one thing is sure that fastidious people usually have harder life and poorer health than those who choose everything normally. I didn't just say it out of my imagination; it's a reality. At this present pandemic where people are generally advised to stay in hygienic place, away from groups, to wash hands properly from time to time, and to wear masks and observe necessary precautions, poor people who can't observe any precautions are more alive than those who are doing everything. Rich people who stay in a castle are dying, and the beggars who live in a street are still begging. One who has been staying in quarantine since the pandemic started has already affected by the virus, whereas the laborious people who sell goods in the market streets (for earning and living) are still selling. The doctors, prime ministers and great persons who have done everything to prevent the contamination have been dying, whereas the group of insane people who stay by the roadside are still living.
[Note: These insane people are not my self-created examples, but the real scenario of my backyard. It is told that they (3 people) fled from the prison and came there to stay (because there was a construction site which was on hold since lockdown, and they found it a perfect place to stay). Everyday we used to go to the roof to see what they are doing. We used to feel that they will not live long, because pandemic had already started and they used to sleep on a floor, do not wash hands, and stay with street dogs most of the times. They used to wander here and there during the day time, and when the night falls, come back with one of the street dogs and eat with it. They spent several months like that. People were being infected and dying all around the world, police were warning the public to stay in home and advising them to wear masks and use sanitizers, medias busy on advertising the effects of the virus and how to prevent them, etc. etc., but nothing mattered to those semi-conscious insane beings. Without masks, without washing hands (even after excretion; this I guessed because there was no water and they were half-mad, so I think the knowledge of cleanliness didn't come in their mind), and by eating and sleeping with the street dogs, they spent around 5-6 months in that self-created ragged hut (taking support of the existing wall), and when the lockdown was over and when the construction was re-started, they moved to a new place (I don't know where they went). What I meant to say from this incident is, they are alive (when virus was already a pandemic in Kathmandu and around the place where I stay) till today.]
I don't know whether Darwin's theory worked or it's a coincidence, but those who were facing all kinds of labors, street dusts, and contaminated foods and water are still working even today, and those who stayed in home, being critically alert on what they eat and where they go and using all the safety measures, are being infected and dying. Whatever, I don't want to further discuss on this part because the only reason I gave this example is to support the sentence "fastidious people usually have harder life and poorer health than those who choose everything normally", but not to deny the necessary precautions that are needed to be prevented from virus and other diseases. Because people who eat everything without being choosy (considering the food is organic and good for health, and considering the person hasn't suffered from any disease), and who have faced different kinds of environmental conditions from time to time will have higher immunity power (from the nutrition they get from higher varieties of foods and from the development of cells to adapt in all kinds of environment) than those who are selective on what they eat and where they live. Also, those who usually eat plants and vegetables brought directly from the field (or sun-dried) will have higher immunity than those who eat processed foods. In village, where people usually don't need money, people eat organic and wide varieties of natural foods, whereas in cities (where people have lots of money), people eat highly processed and junk foods. People in the village do lots of physical work like ploughing, planting crops, cutting grass for domestic animals, carrying water pots, and they don't spend time on mobiles and internet. So, people of village (or rural areas) are healthier and stronger than those on cities where people mostly spend their time on TVs, internet and idleness. So, it's not food that causes all the health problems, but the quality of food and other lifestyles we prefer in the cities.
The perspective of human varies in almost everything, starting from color, food, taste, requirements, plants, animals, nature, to the existence of human themselves. Some believe humans serve greater purpose in the Universe, while some believe humans are only the result of evolution, while some believe humans were created to enjoy what God and Nature has provided. I will not give my opinion here, but will discuss certain things (to make you think from different angle than usual). Starting from amoeba, evolution occurred all way through multicellular organisms, to aquatic, amphibians, terrestrial, arboreal, and finally monkeys, apes, and humans. But why not more than that even in 2000 years (I wrote 2000 to represent the modern date system)? Looking at the history of evolution, anyone would expect the next stage to be something that can even fly in air and with enhanced intellect and superiority. But humans haven't evolved to any form (not even a sign) for 2000 years. It's a big miracle. Okay, let me tell you something. Let's not go too far to amoeba's era, but starting from amphibians and terrestrial era, creatures have been evolving not only in their look and habitat, but also in intelligence. Till the era of ape, the creatures did nothing more than their basic rule of survival, i.e. no any creation, no any development, nothing. And when the evolution finally reached to human era, the world changed. One thing amazes me. Compare the life of human from the stone age to the modern age. The world changed from nothing to everything (though with time). From cave to large buildings; from the feet to the airplanes and rockets; from hunting to different recipes; from hand labor to automotive machines; from naked or tribal dress to designs and costumes; from horns and bones (for distant communication) to internet and computers, etc. etc. Now compare the life of monkeys and apes, which are only one step less evolved than humans, from stone age to the modern age. From jumping to jumping; from climbing to climbing; from stealing to stealing; from laughing to laughing, etc. Why didn't they evolve like humans? Why didn't they create a new world like humans? Okay, they are less intelligent than humans, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't do even a simple creative thing, or build something by themselves and progress their development with time. Why human's intelligence developed such drastically from its preceding ancestors whose intelligence were just normal like of other animals? It's up to you to think. Now, let me come to the perspective of theists, but such theists who think humans were created only to enjoy what nature has provided. In this world, all the creatures, starting from insects to the big animals including humans, share the common means of survival, i.e. eating, sleeping, mating, and defending. All creatures come into existence, grow up, eat what they find, jump and play around, mate with similar type, defend themselves from enemies, give birth to babies, get old (or diseased), and finally die. If humans are only meant to do these things like every other creatures, then what is the use of God giving so much intelligence to humans? Just to live like animals? If enjoyment is what all matters, then what is the use of doing good and bad (if it gives you enjoyment)? What is the use of being truthful and helpful? What is the use of study? What is the use of donation, sharing, and charity? What is the use of right conduct and discipline? Therefore, if humans were not meant to serve some higher purpose (than just enjoyment), then they will be no different than animals. And all the knowledge of discrimination, realization, and creative thinking will be for the use of better enjoyment (and nothing else) than other animals.
Among all the faiths that people have, the faith of Cause and Effect (Action and Reaction) is the most natural and scientific, because this is how the world is running. If somebody steals, he gets punished. The punishment is the result for his action. If I break the traffic rules, I need to pay the bill. If I treat somebody nicely, I will be treated nicely. If I don't study and only enjoy all the time, I will ruin my future. If I help a person today, he will (higher probability) help me tomorrow or some other day. So, these are the examples of action and reaction, both from the view of theists and atheists. The world of compassionate and kind-hearted people is quite greater than this. Apart from direct service they provide and direct benefit they obtain, they still provide service to someone or something even though they don't get (or desire) any personal benefit in return. For example, those who provide food and shelter to street dogs, disabled people, orphans, etc. Such people try to help others from all their sides (without expecting anything as a reward). Such pure love towards creatures is usually not found (or is less) in atheists (forgive me if I am wrong). Finally, the world of theists (true theists) is even greater and larger than the former ones (here, world doesn't mean physical world, but it means mental world, or Consciousness). They perform all the activities performed by those mentioned earlier, and still perform some higher forms of activities. Not only in action, but they are also disciplined in thought and speech. They do such things which are beneficial for all. They expect good for everyone. At their best level, they help needed beings directly, but if they couldn't, they atleast pray for them, because they believe in the importance and effect of prayers and blessing. Apart from what can be seen and experienced directly, they too believe in higher form of energies (divine forces). They believe in God and spirits. They believe in Soul and also believe that all creatures have same soul and thus all are equal. They treat every creature equally (remember that I am talking about TRUE theists). They don't discriminate (feeling of superiority or inferiority) between anyone or any creatures, because they see the same soul (with same kind of feeling and heart) just enveloped by different skin and level of intelligence. They regard every creations of God as important and having some purpose in the Universe. They try to be as honest and truthful as possible, not only in front of others, but also from within, even when no one is watching them. They don't bring negative thoughts in their mind, or blame or curse anyone in the back (thinking that no one has heard) because they believe that God is everywhere (omnipresent) and nothing can be hidden from Him. They believe in Law of Karma and believe that everything happens at the right moment. They believe that they will obtain required results for their actions when they are actually ready to obtain it, and thus, they don't hurry. They don't deny the existence of God just because He didn't fulfill their desire (due to their belief in Law of Karma). They reflect all their wrongdoings that they have done in the past due to greed, anger or lack of knowledge, feel sorry for it, ask for forgiveness, and still be ready to undertake what Nature has to give them (as a punishment) and try to be good afterwards. They don't curse or think negative of even their enemies, rather feel "let God take care of them" and leave everything upon Him. They don't quarrel, neither put themselves into continuous arguments. They accept what has been given by the Nature without feeling inadequate. They believe everything in the Universe works under the same principle "Law of Cause and Effect". They give more priority to "what is to be done" than "why is to be done", and thus accept all good things (claimed by their respective Scriptures and their Spiritual Masters) without every time asking "why" (because without faith, the question of "why" never ends, neither in the material world nor in the spiritual world). For example, if "truth" is to be spoken, then they accept it without asking "why" all the times. They believe in the words of their Scriptures even if it can be proven or not by modern method (because for them, those words and principles are already proven by God and their composers). They live by rightful earning, and don't try to cheat others. They don't discriminate between rich and poor, mine and yours, superior and inferior, because they believe that they are in that position and in that condition only because of the will of the God and not by their own superiority. They believe that they can fall into any condition any time and thus perform what is right and what is beneficial for everyone (without personal greed and attachment). They only take those undertakings which will provide benefit for others (including Nature) as well as for themselves. Therefore, one who falls under the category of "theist" comparatively lives better, methodical, disciplined, thoughtful and peaceful life. Such mode of life, and such level of thinking is rarely present in those who think existence is a mere coincidence and Universe is only a bunch of matters and chemicals.
What if I say that this article is not my own, but have copied from one of the great writers of Nepal!!.... You will scroll to the top of the page and start reading again. Every word you see and every sentence you read, you will find much deeper meanings and greater understanding than you did before. You will find everything more interesting. You will feel that it has been written so perfectly, and so on…. But alas, this is not copied. And this is not that much interesting as well (contrary to what you would have thought if I hadn't mentioned that previous sentence). What I meant to indicate here is, we give more priority to things, writings, arts, essays, and creativities of those individuals who are already famous or renowned for something else. For example, we all know pure water is tasteless (at least to this time). But if an ordinary person, who is not renowned for anything, said "pure water has taste", then everybody will laugh at him, or ignore what he has to say on its behalf. But what if some renowned scientist speaks the same sentence and died right after it? I am 100% sure that his sentence will not go unnoticed. People from around the world will start on experimenting whether it is really true or not. Some may find him wrong, some will not even experiment and consider it fake, some will take it as fun, whereas a group of people always exist to try unnecessary experiments, put unnecessary chemicals to remove all kinds of contaminations, and finally define its taste as sweet, salty, or something else (even though the original scientist had actually said it for fun). This is only an example. But similar realities exist in the world. People consider something to be true just because someone said it, or they hear/read it somewhere, even though they personally don't know or feel anything (nor have any legit proof). Or else, the shape of the earth wouldn't have been a controversial topic (even to 20% population). We also give more priority to western civilization, philosophers, scientists, and artists than to others. I am quite sure that if Leonardo da Vinci (or some other great scientist or artist who is already famous for some other inventions or creations) hadn't painted Mona Lisa, then it wouldn't have been that much of value as it is today, or it would have been among the most excellent masterpieces, rather than the ONLY masterpiece (though not for Asians who have been in a habit of seeing abundant historical arts, crafts, paintings and monuments in their own land). We all know Wright Brothers were the first inventors of flying machine (because we read in a book written by western writer), but if we had continued our original education system, then we would be reading Vishwakarma, rather than Wright Brothers. We consider the Ramayana and Mahabharata epics (that occurred few thousand years ago, and having proofs to the minute detail) as a myth, and at the same time we believe the sentence "Big bang occurred 13.7 billion years ago" as a fact (which is simply a hypothesis only). We haven't even discovered the mystery of Bermuda Triangle (which lies on Earth), and we already started believing in expanding Universe and Multiverse (just because some scientist hypothesizes it). So, what I tried to explain here is, regardless of what we actually feel and regardless of whether it is true or false, we simply give priority to something just because some great person or some famous person did it (or said it).
What I meant to explain in this entire article is, whatever we see in this world, and whatever feelings we put upon them, is solely our personal assumption only rather than how they truly are. We put our faith depending upon our own perspective and knowledge. And that perspective is defined by what family we have born upon, what culture we hold, what environment we grow on, what things we learnt, what association or friend circle we joint (because "as the association, so is the intellect"), what desire we have, what objective we build, and also upon our greed, enmity, attraction and anger towards certain things and beings, and sometimes upon name and fame, and sometimes for the adaptation in the circle (society) we built (or have) even if we think the other way.
Remember that everything in the world is either the creation of God, or the creation of humans. The term "creation" or "creativity" is good in itself. This already defines good in everything. We all are into some kind of creativity. Creativity is the center of attraction. The modern world is more beautiful (to observe) than it was 3 decades ago. It's because of the creative buildings, bridges, towers, roads, vehicles, gardens, colors, designs, etc. Why do we visit Taj Mahal? To see the white color and stones? No, to see the creativity in design. Why do we visit historical places? To stay in solitude? May be, but more than that, to see the creativity in architecture. Why do we go for a tour? To exercise? No, but to see the creativity in landscapes and natural beauty. We wouldn't have watched movies if it showed just the daily life of some person. We wouldn't have interest in astronomy if Universe was very empty and if it hadn't contained infinitely large objects like planets, stars, galaxies, black holes, etc. Why do most people like Saturn? Because it has more creative shape than just a ball. Even a drop of water is interesting to those who love Quantum Physics. Even a single leaf is interesting to those who love Botany. Even a cockroach (which we consider useless and kill without a second thought) is interesting to those who love Entomology. Even a color is interesting to those who love abstract paintings. If everyone in this world is after some kind of creativity, then how can we consider that term bad? So, every beings or things that fall under the category of "creativity" is Universally beautiful, even if we perceive it the other way.
Everything is good in the world, so it's a good thing to put positive affirmation on them. But calling them bad is wrong. Just because we don't like something, we cannot consider it bad. Among all the negative affirmations we put on certain things or beings, "this is not good" or "this is bad" is the worst (or wrong, because nothing is bad on its own). Then comes "I don't like it" because we fail to understand that we like everything (atleast at certain point in time) and everything is good. If there is the presence of badness, then it exists in nothing else than in intention (and desire). Only in intention, good or bad prevails, but not in object, action or behavior. And that intention exists only in human beings (among all the creations of God) who can discriminate (think, realize, reason, and question) himself. It is human who discriminate between mine and yours, black and white, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc. (despite having enough intelligence to understand everything). Other creatures live only by their innate nature of survival, or what they are trained for. They do not think the other way (due to their limited intelligence), and thus they don't discriminate. What then to talk about something that doesn't even live or think! So, it's better to put positive affirmation on things (atleast not use negative affirmation) even if we like it or not. Liking something isn't bad. We can say "I like it", or "that is good", or "I love it". But hating something is wrong. And instead of putting direct negative affirmation, we can say it in some other way so that our reaction or comment seems positive even if we don't want to accept that thing at the moment. For example, if we don't like marigold, then instead of saying "I hate marigold", we can say "I have been seeing marigold for a long time, now I just want to see something new or of different color". Do you see any pessimistic view here? It's the same meaning if you say the first way or second, but second way is much better way of defining your interest, because you don't criticize anything in negative way. Similarly, instead of saying "I hate tight pants", we can rather say "I feel little awkward (or difficult) to walk in tight pants, so I think I should buy loose pants". See, what a better way to put our thoughts. Instead of saying "I hate cockroaches" or "I don't like cockroaches", we can simply say "I want to keep home free of insects, so I think I need to clean my rooms from time to time", or "I don't like cockroaches coming in my room". Because we hate cockroaches only if it comes in our home, but not all the cockroaches out there in the jungle. So, we should try to put our thoughts in positive way rather than instinctively denying their existence. Instead of saying "that player is the worst player in history", we can say "he needs quite more improvement in playing skills", or something like that in a positive way. Instead of saying "I don't like winter", we can rather say "I am prone to cold and cough, so I prefer summer season because that keeps me warm", or something similar to this. Instead of saying "I don't like cricket", we can say "I love football more than cricket" because loving something more is natural and there is also no pessimism in saying so. If I love momo, I can say "I love momo". But I cannot say "sandwich isn't yummy". The better way to put our negation on this sentence is "I don't want to eat sandwich at the moment". Because it is very natural to not want to do something at the moment. For example, if I am planning to stay home today and my friend asked me to go for a ride, then I can say "I don't want to go now (or for a certain period)". It is completely natural and not pessimistic. But worse is to say "I don't like riding", and worst is to say "I hate riding" or "going for a riding is bad". See the difference here. If I want to eat pizza, I can say "I want to eat pizza" or "I don't want to eat burger at this time", but it's a pessimistic affirmation to say "I don't like burger" or "I hate burger" or "burger is bad". There is so much difference in saying "don't want at the moment", "don't like", "hate", and "is bad". The first one is not the negative criticization, but simply our desire at the particular moment (or for limited time). But the latter affirmations are wrong as they are only the result of ignorance and lack of knowledge. So, if we really want to view the world in positive way (since every THING in the world is good, and bad lies only in intention), then we need to use above mentioned forms of sentences, i.e. denying something with positive affirmation (or limiting our negative affirmation to certain period by the use of "at the moment", "at this time", "for few days", etc. because we don't really hate anything throughout our life).
Remember that what we give to the world is what comes back to us. Just like "every action has equal but opposite reaction", just like "what goes up comes down", and just like "as you sow, so you reap", so do every action we perform, every thought we remember, and every words we speak will have certain reaction (effect) not only in the outer world, but also in our inner world (consciousness). Om Mani Padme Hum. We all know sound is a form of energy and energy is the form of vibration of atoms (at the microscopic level). We all have heard of sound therapy. Why do you think the singing bowl works? It's because of the vibrations that come out of the bowl will have certain effect upon the environment and eventually to our body and mind. If produced correctly, they can heal the body from different ailments and provide relaxation to the mind. They are not like other musics which only provide relaxation to the ear; a singing bowl can heal specific organs as well. I gave the example of singing bowl because it is the only experiment that can have quick effect to every people regardless of their faith, belief and music-genre they like, and that can be proved even to atheist. But it doesn't mean other laws do not exist, though the working time is different for different laws. Actually, every sound that is produced have certain vibrational effect in the environment, and to us (as a reaction). As said by Gautam Buddha, "we are what we think". If we think (or speak) good, good vibrational energies will come back to us, and if we think (or speak) bad, similar vibrational energies will come back to us and affect our consciousness and eventually the life itself. Our thoughts and words can change our mental health. Thoughts create the favorable environment whereas words empower our intention. Remember that one who views (and speaks) everything optimistically will have happier life (atleast in comparison) than one who criticizes things all the time. The force of Nature is always acting upon us. There always exists an expert invisible artist (supernatural force) that maintains all these laws of action and reaction. We all are believers (of Supreme God, or Supreme Energy) upto certain level, but due to our mental speculation, ignorance, lack of knowledge, or due to our attachment (or disinterest) in certain things, we sometimes try to deny that faith. A Soul knows everything, but once it enters the body composed of matter, it forgets everything, and learns only what he has been taught by others. The knowledge of Eternity and Oneness is always present inside us, but we will be unknown to it unless we are revealed about it by someone or some form of knowledge. That's why we (humans) are all considered ignorant unless we begin our Spiritual life (don't confuse spirituality with religion, they have different meanings; religion is simply a small segment of spirituality; religion is only a means to learn about spirituality). Because only the Scriptures (and those who have experienced the Truth, like enlightened Rishis) can reveal (or teach) the real knowledge, i.e. differences between Matter and Spirit, Soul and Body, Eternal and Temporary, and the very reason of one's own existence; and not the general logic, discussion, argument and reasoning. We are always in need to learn higher forms of knowledge (than just worldly affairs), and we should always ask the Supreme God to bless upon us that knowledge and awareness which we can never know from other material sources. If not, then the wise and enlightened Veda Vyasa wouldn't have mentioned the phrase "dhiyo yo nah prachodayat" in Vedas. So, words have power on them, the same power having same intention and frequencies by which we utter that sound. That's why it is always advised to speak what is true and pleasing to hear. One should not speak what is false and pleasing to hear, nor what is false and bitter to hear. And if one has to speak what is true and bitter to hear, he needs to modify it in some other form so that it doesn't sound bitter but still remains true (this is not my personal thought, but the thought of Lord Krishna which was revealed to Arjuna). See positivity in everything, and speak only positive affirmations at all cost. Even if you want to put your negative thought upon something, try to say that too in positive way, so that all the reactions will come back to you in positive way. Don't say "I hate it" if you don't want to be hated by similar frequencies at certain point in time. Don't say "I don't like it" if you don't want to be disliked by similar frequencies that comes back. If you want fortunes to come to you, give fortunes to others also. Even if you are an atheist and don't believe in anything like this, then still put your thoughts in positive way just to be seen well-mannered in other's eye, or just to make somebody's day or even life.
Thank You.
This article is solely a reflection on the term "beauty", just from a different perspective than how we usually think. Everything here are my personal thoughts and personal understandings (though with some historical and scriptural reference), so it isn't necessary that I should be right from other's view (though it is right for me). I composed this article to make you feel that everything in life can be seen from another angle, and things may seem different from that angle. Bad can be seen as good and good can be seen as bad. It's all the perspective that matters, isn’t it? So, it is not necessary that you should perceive the nature the same way I do, but atleast try to reflect everything in your own way once you read this article, and try to create an insight of your own (because it is YOU who will create your own destiny).
